Chronic Pain Can Be Alleviated with Upper Cervical Chiropractic

Chronic Pain Treatment

What is Chronic Pain?

When we are sick or injured, we generally expect to get treatment or to take medication and recover. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work that way. Some people are left suffering from chronic pain.

Chronic pain refers to pains that last beyond the normal recovery period, or that persist when someone has an ongoing health condition. Many factors can result in chronic pain, which may be constant or recurring for weeks, months, or years. Chronic pain can make life difficult, interfering with everyday tasks, work, recreational activities, or even one’s ability to get a good night’s sleep.

Symptoms of Chronic Pain

Pain can come in different forms and different levels of severity, based on the underlying condition. Chronic pain sufferers will also often experience fatigue or be restless. They may be irritable, have anxiety, or stress, or suffer from depression due to their pain.

People with chronic pain may lose or gain weight. They may find they have an increased threshold for pain, but more commonly—over time—they may become oversensitive to pain.

How the Upper Cervical Spine Affects Chronic Pain

The upper cervical spine is comprised of the seven uppermost vertebrae. These vertebrae are located just below the skull, near where the brain stem meets the spinal cord. The brain stem and spinal cord make up the central nervous system, and one job of the upper cervical spine is to protect it.

When these vertebrae are out of alignment, it can cause inflammation, compressed nerves, or nerves that misfire. When the upper cervical spine is adjusted, it takes the pressure off of the spinal nerves. Once the spine is properly aligned it triggers the body’s natural healing processes and boosts the immune system.

How Our Chronic Pain Treatment Works

Dr. Alex Bello of Los Angeles Upper Cervical is a specialist in the Blair Chiropractic Technique. With this technique, the doctor uses gentle, non-invasive corrections to help restore the spine’s proper alignment.

Unlike traditional chiropractic methods, the Blair technique does not involve abrupt twisting, jerking, popping, or cracking. Adjustments are swift and gentle, offering a natural, non-invasive, drug-free treatment of chronic pain.

Dr. Bello begins treatment with an assessment, which usually involves a physical exam and scans with our advanced 3D imaging diagnostic tools. This allows him to carefully calculate and pinpoint any misalignments, eliminating the guesswork so that treatments can be more precise. The doctor then corrects any misalignments with low-force manipulations. Once your spine is properly aligned, it allows the central nervous system to function more effectively, restoring communication between the brain and the body’s essential functions.
